Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting mined copper-zinc at Flin Flon, on the Manitoba-Saskatchewan line, and ran a concentrator, copper smelter and zinc plant there from 1930. It later opened mines and a mill at Snow Lake, Manitoba.
The Flin Flon complex opened a remote northern district: rail from The Pas, a hydro dam, and a town built around the mine. It was the main industrial employer in Flin Flon and later Snow Lake.

Now
Anglo American sold the company to OntZinc on 21 December 2004. OntZinc became Hudbay. Flin Flon production ended when the 777 mine and zinc plant closed in June 2022. Hudbay still mines at Snow Lake.

- Whether the 1979 executive office was Toronto or Winnipeg is not pinned down beyond the Toronto-Dominion Centre registered office.
- Purchase price of the 2004 Anglo sale is widely given as about C$316 million; the Hudbay closing release emphasizes financing, not that headline figure, so it is not used here.
