Price Brothers

Price Brothers made newsprint, paperboard, kraft paper and lumber from Quebec City. The line begins with William Price’s timber house of 1820. William Price III moved the firm into pulp and paper and built the Kénogami mill. Later mills included Alma, Chandler and Grand Falls, Newfoundland. The company was renamed The Price Company in 1966.

It was a long-running Quebec timber and then newsprint house, shipping lumber to Britain in the nineteenth century and paper from the Saguenay and Gaspé in the twentieth.

Now

Abitibi bought control in 1974. The combined firm became Abitibi-Price in 1979. That line later ran through Resolute and, in 2023, into Domtar.
