Canada Malting malted barley for brewers and distillers. Three Ontario maltsters combined in 1902. The 1905 Saint-Henri plant on the Lachine Canal was for a time the largest maltings in Canada. The company also built houses in Winnipeg, Calgary, Thunder Bay, and Toronto. It left the canal site around 1980 for a plant in the Port of Montreal.

It turned Prairie barley into malt for Canadian beer and was the country's largest maltster.

Now

ConAgra and Tiger Brands bought the company in 1995. The malt group later passed to United Malt Holdings, GrainCorp (2009), and listed United Malt Group (2020). Malteries Soufflet completed its purchase of United Malt on 15 November 2023. Canada Malting still malts at Calgary, Thunder Bay, and Montreal.
