Canadian Foundation Company

Canadian Foundation Company was a Montreal civil contractor. Aecon's heritage page dates Foundation Company to 1910 as a top civil contractor in Montreal and a forerunner of its infrastructure business. The 1985 annual report cover shows a circular tank foundation and crane at dusk.

It was a principal Canadian builder of heavy civil work. That line later sat inside Banister and then Aecon, which still builds infrastructure in Canada.

Now

Banister Continental of Edmonton bought the Foundation Company in 1987. Banister later became Banister Foundation and then BFC Construction. Armbro bought BFC in 1999. On 1 January 2001 Armbro amalgamated BFC and Foundation, ending the Foundation name. Armbro was renamed Aecon Group in 2001. Aecon still operates.
