Canadian Marconi made radio and later avionics in Montreal. It was incorporated in 1903 as Marconi's Canadian wireless company, after the 1901 transatlantic signal, and took the Canadian Marconi name in 1925. It ran a Cape Breton station, coastal ship stations, a Montreal factory, and CFCF radio. Consumer radio and television manufacturing ended in 1966. By 1981 the work was aircraft navigation, tactical radios, and related electronics.
It was the Canadian wireless company after 1901 and a Montreal electronics manufacturer. Avionics kept a Canadian design-and-build shop after consumer radio closed.

BAE Systems bought GEC's control block in 1999 and used the name BAE Systems Canada. ONCAP bought the company in 2001 and renamed it CMC Electronics. Esterline bought CMC on 14 March 2007. TransDigm bought Esterline on 14 March 2019. CMC Electronics still makes avionics in Montreal.

- CMC's own history page compresses the BAE and ONCAP steps; Flight Global (2001) and the CMC site agree the operating name became CMC Electronics after the ONCAP buy.
- TransDigm 2019 is the parent of Esterline; CMC continues as an operating brand.
