The company
Campbell Red Lake Mines mined gold underground at Balmertown, east of Red Lake, Ontario. George and Colin Campbell restaked the ground in 1944. The mill started in 1949. Dome Mines took control. By 1980 the main shaft was more than 1,300 metres deep.

That year
The Campbell mill processed 389,500 tons of ore and produced 219,200 ounces of gold. Mill recovery rose to 94.2 percent from 93.4 percent in 1982.
