The company
Canadian General Electric made electrical equipment in Canada for General Electric. It was incorporated on 15 July 1892 from the Canadian Edison and Thomson-Houston companies. The Peterborough plant had opened in April 1891 and built motors, generators, and later a wide range of industrial gear. The appliance side went into Camco with GSW in 1975.

That year
Canadian General Electric shipped five synchronous motors, the largest of their type ever built in Canada. Two 30,550 HP motors were installed at the Alberta Natural Gas plant near Cochrane and three 30,000 HP motors were commissioned at the Dome Petroleum Empress Gas Plant.
