The company
Canadian General Electric made electrical equipment in Canada for General Electric. It was incorporated on 15 July 1892 from the Canadian Edison and Thomson-Houston companies. The Peterborough plant had opened in April 1891 and built motors, generators, and later a wide range of industrial gear. The appliance side went into Camco with GSW in 1975.

That year
Canadian General Electric booked new orders for $100 million of HVDC equipment for Hydro-Quebec and New England Power. It invested $42.9 million in manufacturing systems including robotics, vision systems, CAD/CAM and computer numerical control machines.
