Dofasco (Dominion Foundries and Steel, Limited) was Canada's second largest fully-integrated steel producer, using basic oxygen steelmaking introduced at its plant in October 1954.

In 1979 Dofasco's ingot production exceeded the 4-million ton mark for the first time, and plans were approved for a second hot strip mill of 1.2 million tons per year.
