The company
Incorporated in 1950, Dome Petroleum Limited had become one of the largest oil and gas companies in Canada, with exploration primarily in Canada, a fleet of western Arctic drillships, and a major shipyard in Canada.

Exploration and development drilling in Canada and the United States included 410 gross exploratory wells and 857 gross development wells. Exploratory drilling resulted in 73 oil wells and 159 gas wells.
