The company
Canadian National Railways, reporting to Canada’s Minister of Transport in Ottawa, operated the railway and, as noted in the report, telecommunications, CN-operated hotels, and trucking companies.

That year
Canadian National moved the greatest volume of freight in its history. The freight work load reached 101.1 billion gross ton miles, and between August 1 and November 30 the railway moved 80,148 carloads of grain for export.
