The company

Canadian National Railways, reporting to Canada’s Minister of Transport in Ottawa, operated the railway and, as noted in the report, telecommunications, CN-operated hotels, and trucking companies.

That year

CN began construction of Cargo-Flo bulk terminals in Toronto and Montreal, a service that ships dry or liquid bulk in pressure hopper or tank cars for transfer to highway carriers. In early spring the first predesigned unit train in Canada started service between Sherman Mine near Temagami and Hamilton.
