The company
The Steel Company of Canada, Limited was formed in 1910 by merger of five firms with plants in Hamilton, Montreal, Lachine, Swansea, Brantford, Gananoque and Belleville.

That year
McMaster Works, Stelco's most recent plant, was a 700-acre property about 30 miles east of Montreal; its new $10,000,000 pipe mill began production in September 1959.
